Cheers Pub

4.01,688 Reviews#15 in Bars & Pubs

Cheers Pub is a casual pub on the main road in Protaras, around two thirds of the way down the one way system. It is the kind of place visitors may choose for an easy breakfast, brunch, drinks, or relaxed pub food while watching the main strip go by.

What makes it special

Friendly staff and a lively, relaxed atmosphere.

Generous portions of classic pub food at reasonable prices.

Large TV screens for sports and pool tables add to the experience.

The breakfast is one of the main reasons people seem to recommend it, especially for visitors looking for a filling English style breakfast at a reasonable price. It is not presented as a fine dining spot, and it does not need to be. The appeal is simple: a relaxed setting, generous portions, and a menu that suits an easy holiday morning.

What Makes It Worth Visiting

The main draw at Cheers Pub is value and convenience. The pub sits right on the main road, so it is easy to spot while walking through Protaras. There are A boards outside with drinks, food photos, and special offers, so it is worth checking them before sitting down.

For breakfast, the larger option mentioned includes tea or coffee, orange juice, toast with butter, jam and marmalade, and a cooked breakfast with two eggs, back bacon, English sausage, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, and hash browns. At the time shown, this larger breakfast was priced at 8.50 euros.

There is also a smaller breakfast option at 5.20 euros, but the tea or coffee was not included with that one in the information provided.

What to Expect

Expect a relaxed, friendly pub atmosphere rather than anything formal. The seating looks well placed for people watching, especially if you enjoy sitting with a drink or breakfast while the Protaras strip carries on around you.

The breakfast arrives in generous portions, with plenty on the plate. The larger breakfast is clearly aimed at hungry visitors, so it may be too much if you only want something light. For someone who prefers a proper brunch before heading out for the day, it should suit well.

There is a casual holiday feel to the place, with visitors stopping for drinks, breakfast, and conversation. It is the sort of pub that works well when you want something simple, familiar, and easy.

Food and Drinks

Choose Cheers Pub if you want a relaxed, filling breakfast in the centre of Protaras without overcomplicating the morning. The larger breakfast is best for someone with a proper appetite, especially if you want something closer to brunch.

If you are not very hungry, the smaller breakfast, eggs on toast, or a breakfast roll may make more sense. The larger breakfast looks generous enough that some visitors may even consider sharing, especially with a child, depending on appetite.

The good old baby mattress still there in front of the toilets. 🤣🤣🤣I think I’ve seen it first time 35years ago. About time the management spend a few €s to freshen things up at this joint.

Good place for cheap drinks and watching sports. Tasty cocktails for just 5€ and the service was fast. Would not maybe eat in this place though as there are better options nearby.

Never been in here before mainly because I don't like the TV programme so was presently surprised the breakfast was lovely and plenty of it at a reasonable price for the main Protarus strip. Would recommend and must go back so to try there other food.

Love it! The staff are extremely attentive and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is pub food, great for all ages. You can sit inside or if you prefer the sunshine, outside. There are large TV screens dotted around to watch the sport and pool tables for the children. We love this bar restaurant, and will return. Thank you for the home grown fresh figs - just beautiful!!

It breaks my heart to right this however, I ordered the mixed grill kebab with no ptta (due to being gluten free). My parter ordered the pepperoni pizza. The dishes came out. No pepperoni on the pizza. My mixed grill, chicken was so dry, lamb was so over cooked you had to bash them against a brick wall to break it open. However the chips were lush. We complained The older guy in management didn't take this lightly and squared up to my partner. It got very serious and very uncomfortable however the the older guy didn't want to let this go. The staff told us to go to avoid more upset and dispute as the older guy was out of control. The older guy threatened and swore at us. We offered to pay for the drinks and chips we ate! But after the old guys behavior the restaurant said 'dont pay , just leave'. We left,,, but offered to pay several times Fo drinks and chips, but the older guy got too aggressive. Staff told us to leave to calm him down This was treated so unfairly. We offered to pay what we we actually had however we had to bow down to an older gentleman who totally overreacted to protect his bad business 😢 He shouldn't be working here and the younger guys know how to run it if given the chance. They have the experience and willpower to do it. I am So sad to do this however I need people to know the truth. The younger staff are doi f so well. They just need to let go of the fer staff or the older staff need to leg full stop.

Cheap food. It’s ok but it fills a hole. The staff are lovely. The drinks aren’t too expensive and the atmosphere is great. Definitely worth a visit.
