4.2385 Reviews#70 in Restaurants

Tony’s Cyprus Tavern is one of the longest running taverns in Kapparis, offering a relaxed mix of traditional food, family entertainment, cocktails, shisha, sports, and a large children’s fun park. Located on Kapparis Avenue in Paralimni, it is a popular choice for families who want a proper meal while the children enjoy a safe and exciting play area nearby.

What makes it special

Meals are prepared with real care and attention to flavour.

Staff like Maria and Ashleigh are known for their friendly, helpful service.

Watch sports on big screens while enjoying affordable drinks and food.

This family run business serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a wide menu covering fish, meat, meze, Cypriot favourites, steaks, seafood, burgers, vegetarian dishes, desserts, cocktails, and local wines. It is the kind of place where everyone can find something they like, from children wanting nuggets and chips to adults looking for kleftiko, souvlaki, fresh fish, or a good steak.

A Family Tavern with Food, Fun, and Relaxed Evenings

Tony’s has been part of the Kapparis dining scene for many years, building a reputation that brings guests back again and again. Many visitors return with friends and relatives, partly for the food, but also because the venue works so well for families.

The atmosphere is easy going and sociable. Adults can sit back with dinner, cocktails, shisha, wine, or a cold beer, while children enjoy the fun park nearby. It is especially useful for parents who want an evening out without spending the entire meal entertaining bored little ones. Small miracle, honestly.

Fun Land for Children

One of the biggest attractions at Tony’s is Fun Land, a large children’s play area that makes the tavern stand out from many other restaurants in the area. The play area is enclosed, with one way in and out, and is supervised, making it easier for parents to relax while children play.

The fun park includes bouncy castles, slides, trampolines, pool table, air hockey, table football, video games, an Angry Birds style experience game, and other activities. It is designed to keep children busy, active, and happy while adults enjoy their meal or drinks.

For families visiting Kapparis, Pernera, Protaras, or Paralimni, this makes Tony’s a very practical evening choice. The children get their fun, the adults get their food, and everyone leaves a little more tired in the best possible way.

Sports Bar, Lounge, and Shisha

Tony’s is not only for families. The venue also includes a sports bar, chill out lounge, and comfortable seating areas where guests can enjoy drinks, sports, or shisha.

Sports fans can watch games on large screens, with Sky Sports often available. Guests can choose between open air seating or indoor areas, depending on the weather and the mood. There is also free WiFi, which is useful if you want to stay connected while enjoying the evening.

The shisha lounge offers a wide range of flavours, making Tony’s a good option for a relaxed night out with friends as well as a family meal.

The Food at Tony’s Cyprus Tavern

The menu at Tony’s is broad and generous, covering Cypriot dishes, international favourites, seafood, grills, steaks, burgers, pastas, pizzas, vegetarian plates, and children’s meals.

Starters include options such as fried halloumi, avocado with shrimps, Cyprus plate, smoked salmon, king prawns in garlic sauce, and other classic appetisers. Soups range from homemade tomato and mushroom soup to richer options such as creamy lobster soup.

The menu is especially strong for anyone who likes traditional tavern food with plenty of choice. It is not a small, minimal menu. It is a big holiday menu, made for mixed groups and families who all want different things.

Traditional Cypriot Dishes and Meze

Tony’s serves a variety of Cypriot favourites, including meze, moussaka, stifado, kleftiko, souvlaki, kebabs, sheftalia, and other traditional dishes. The moussaka is described as a family recipe, the kind of dish that carries that classic “Yiayia knows best” feeling.

The stifado is another good choice for guests who enjoy rich, slow cooked Cypriot flavours, with tender beef, wine, vinegar, and onions. Kleftiko is also a must try if you want a proper local lamb dish, slowly cooked until soft and full of flavour.

For visitors wanting a full Cypriot meal, the meze options are a good way to taste several dishes across one long, relaxed dinner.

Steaks, Burgers, and Grills

Tony’s has long been known for hearty meat dishes, including steaks, pork chops, kebabs, lamb chops, mixed grills, and burgers. The Tony’s Special Steak is one of the signature options, with fillet steak cooked in the restaurant’s own style.

The Cyprus Burger is another popular choice, made with a beef burger, bacon, halloumi, homemade chips, and salad. It is a very Cyprus holiday kind of plate, generous, filling, and not pretending to be delicate.

The homemade chips and local potatoes are part of the appeal, especially for anyone tired of frozen fries. Simple detail, big difference.

Seafood and Fish

Seafood lovers can choose from fresh fish and seafood dishes such as sea bass, sea bream, prawns, cod and chips, and lobster dishes. Lobster Thermidor may be available by pre order, which helps ensure it is prepared as freshly as possible.

For a casual seafood meal, fresh grilled fish is a good choice. For something more indulgent, prawns in garlic sauce or lobster dishes bring a richer feel to the table.

Vegetarian Options

Tony’s also offers vegetarian dishes, including vegetarian moussaka and curry style options. This is useful for mixed groups where not everyone wants meat or fish.

Cypriot food can work well for vegetarian diners when prepared properly, with dishes based around vegetables, cheese, pulses, potatoes, rice, and dips. It is worth asking the staff what vegetarian options are available on the day.

Children’s Menu

The children’s menu includes familiar options such as nuggets, burgers, scampi and chips, mini pizza and chips, spaghetti bolognese, kebabs, and smaller versions of selected dishes.

This makes Tony’s especially easy for families. Children can enjoy something simple, then head back to the play area, while adults take their time with dinner, drinks, or dessert.

Desserts, Cocktails, and Wine

Desserts include tempting choices such as baklava, lava cake, Cyprus delights, pancakes with different fillings, flambed crepe Suzette, ice cream, and other sweet treats.

The cocktail menu is another part of the experience, with classics such as Pina Colada and Long Island Iced Tea, along with house favourites like Hot Kiss and Tony’s Special. There is also a selection of Cypriot wines available by the glass or bottle.

Between the cocktails, shisha, sports screens, lounge areas, and food menu, Tony’s works well as a full evening venue rather than just a quick dinner stop.

Opening Hours

Tony’s Cyprus Tavern is open all year, with seasonal opening hours.

During the summer season, from March to November, it is usually open from 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight.

During the winter season, from December to February, it is usually open from 12:00 noon to 19:00.

Opening hours can change, so it is always worth checking directly before visiting, especially outside the main summer season.

Location

Tony’s Cyprus Tavern is located at 34 Kapparis Avenue, on the beach side of Kapparis, Paralimni.

Tony’s is a strong choice if you want a casual family meal in Kapparis with plenty of food options and entertainment for children. It is especially useful for families who want dinner without the usual “are we done yet?” soundtrack from the kids.

Love this restaurant the food is delicious and the beer is always perfectly cold but most of all the staff are friendly and service is spot on.If you come for some food or just a beer look out for Maria and to be fair you will hear her before you see her she is loud and fun. She brings in the crowds and always has a smile on her face no matter what time of day it is.As Tina Tuner would say she’s Simply the Best.

It’s been my second visit here in Cyprus, and I’d never miss that opportunity to visit Tony’s tavern. They prepare excellent food with passion and love. Sandra and Maria always serve you with smile and nothing can be a problem for them. Love this place and will be back as soon as visiting Cyprus again. Good job people.

Only good thing about it is the playground. However, some of the coin games are broken, and unmarked, and they just said oh that's the way the machines are, without at least returning the lost coin. The food was awful and expensive, which is really an achievement. Only visit if you have a child or want to watch a match, and get there already full.

Ordered king prawns and they came raw, was told this was because they don’t get cleaned? So changed to kalimari was told I wouldn’t like it as it would be the same, I assured the woman that I really enjoyed kalimari so I would enjoy it she said you better eat it? I think means she wouldn’t replace it again when it came out it was cooked but wasn’t good and had bad taste. Also got the spaghettiBolognese came cold sent back and when it come back it was still cold?Really disappointed with the foodBut the fresh apple juice was amazing and so was the pornstar martiniBeen coming to Cyprus for the last five years never complaining about a mealReally disappointed and now both feeling very unwell.
