Skoutarospilioi Beach, affectionately known as Malama Beach, is a picturesque sandy beach nestled in Cyprus. This stunning beach is renowned for its lush green backdrop, creating a vibrant contrast with the azure Mediterranean waters. The beach’s shoreline is uniquely divided into two parts by a stretch of rocks, offering varied experiences for visitors.

What makes it special

Enjoy a peaceful morning swim in clear blue waters before it gets busy

Perfect spot for families with young children due to shallow waters and toy baskets available

Opportunity for snorkeling with great visibility and chances to see turtles

The first section of the beach is the largest and most popular, buzzing with energy and activity. This area is well-equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, available for hire from the municipality, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing beach day. In contrast, the second section offers a more secluded and tranquil experience, perfect for those seeking privacy and quiet.

A highlight of Skoutarospilioi Beach is its suitability for families, particularly the right-hand corner of the beach. Here, the water is shallow and calm, resembling a large, natural pool – ideal for children to safely enjoy the sea. The beach’s family-friendly nature makes it a top choice for locals and tourists alike.

For the explorers and nature enthusiasts, the beach presents an intriguing feature – three cliff caves on the left side of the beach. These caves not only add to the beach’s charm but also provide a sense of adventure and discovery. Behind the lush vegetation of bushes and acacias lies a dirt road leading to another small beach, boasting breathtaking scenery and a sense of serenity.

Malama Beach is also a sanctuary for marine life, notably known for the presence of sea turtles swimming within the bay. This adds an element of natural wonder and is a delightful surprise for wildlife lovers.

While the beach is a popular spot for locals, especially on weekends, it can become quite crowded during the summer months. However, the on-site bar offering fresh drinks and snacks, along with available toilets and showers, ensures a comfortable and convenient experience for all visitors. Safety is a priority at Malama Beach, with a lifeguard on duty daily from April to October. For those seeking a bit more adventure, the beach’s outskirts host a water sports centre, offering various activities to add an extra thrill to your beach day.

In summary, Skoutarospilioi (Malama) Beach is a captivating blend of natural beauty, family-friendly features, and local Cypriot charm. Whether you’re lounging under the sun, exploring hidden caves, or enjoying the local hospitality, this beach is a must-visit destination.

Great little beach. Never gets too busy. Also with the beach/sea not getting deep for a good 20 metres, it’s great for kids. My boys loved fishing here (you will need you own equipment).

A lovely little cove where the see doesnt get too deep for a good 20 plus meters and you are largely protected from the waves, however, little is the problem, there is a large hotel right next to the beach and very few sun beds that get snapped up very early by the residents of the hotel, every time we have been ( and we have been there before 9am) all the sunbeds are taken and you have to sit on the sand. Next to the beech is a lovely cafe/ restaurant and watersports are available.

The beach is so cosy. It was quite crowded. The water is clear. Rather shallow. Perfect for young children. Caves near by looks beautiful. You can wash feet. There is refill water station. One restaurant Kohli with nice food next to the beach.

A small, cozy beach with a café-restaurant nearby and friendly staff. Even on windy days, it feels comfortable since the beach is set in a low area and sheltered from the wind on all sides.

Quite crowded at weekends, has a popular bar/restaurant, water sports centre, and great snorkelling by the cliffs and caves

Very nice beach, especially for families. Nice clean sandy beach with plenty of facilities. Super clean water. Gentle slope of the seafloor. Free drinking water supplied by the local government to reduce the amount of used plastic bottles. Recycling station for your waste. Some umbrellas and sunbeds for rent but when we arrived around 11:00 none were available. Prices very reasonable: 7.50 for a set of two beds and one umbrella. Because of the orientation of this bay, the water is very calm and hardly any waves.
