Upon arriving at the entrance to the Tombs of the Kings site in Paphos, many individuals who are visiting for the first time might not immediately grasp the vastness of the site.
Once inside, you’ll soon discover that the dirt trails meandering through the expansive archaeological grounds are quite rugged, adding to the adventurous atmosphere of your exploration. These trails will guide you to various ancient burial sites scattered across the desolate 320,000-square-meter grounds.
The primary underground tombs were meticulously carved out of solid rock, with some resembling actual houses and others featuring Doric columns and walls adorned with frescoes. It’s worth noting that despite its name, this site was not a final resting place for royalty but rather for wealthy aristocrats.
As you leisurely stroll along the coastal boardwalk, be sure to take in the stunning seascapes that surround you.
